Wenzhou Medical University

Wenzhou Medical University designated as a key university in Wenzhou, Zhejiang, is an institution of higher learning under the leadership of Zhejiang Provincial Government. Its history can be traced back from Zhejiang Medical School established in Hangzhou in 1912. In August of 1958, Part of Zhejiang Medical School was moved from Hangzhou to Wenzhou, hence the name changed to Wenzhou Medical College. In 2013, the name changed to Wenzhou Medical University (WMU). The school library has a collection of 700,000 books and 1100 categories of periodicals either in Chinese or foreign languages. Subordinate to WMC are 6 institutes, 1 experimental animal center, two directly affiliated hospitals with around 2000 beds,15 centers of Laboratory, among them 3 are Key Laboratories of Ministerial level. Involving branches of medicine, science, engineering, liberal arts, laws and management, Wenzhou Medical College offers –

Wenzhou Medical University Ranking

Wenzhou Medical University ranking is in top medical universities. From 2006, Wenzhou Medical University was authorized to confer doctorate degrees in Ophthalmology, Surgery and Gynecology. Wenzhou Medical College is one of the first institutions authorized by the State Council to confer Master’s degree. It offers 15 Master’s degrees now in Ophthalmology & Optometry, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Pharmacology, Gynecology & Obstetrics, Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics, Anesthesia, Pathology and Physiology, Integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine & West Medicine, etc. The Program of Ophthalmology & Optometry is the first one established in China to train optometric professionals with medical background. Given their distinguished achievements in the optometric development, Ministry of Public Health of China based its first and only national Center of Optometry Research in WMC. A Sino-U.S. joint program for Doctorate of Optometry is now under way.

Climate: The weather in Zhejiang features a monsoon season, temperate climate, abundant sunshine and rainfall, humidity and typhoons. The average annual temperature of Zhejiang Province is about 18 °C (64 °F), with an average July temperature of 27-30 °C (81-86 °F), and an average January temperature of 2-8°C (36-46 °F). The annual average rainfall of the province is about 1000mm to 1900mm, and its annual average sunshine time is about 1710 hours to 2100 hours.
Usually spring starts in March, with the average temperature between 9-15 °C (48-59 °F), April and May are the best time for visiting Zhejiang. Meiyu Season is from the end of June to early July. In late summer, typhoons occur with a high frequency, bringing heavy rains. September and October feature excellent weather when clear skies and refreshing air can be enjoyed almost every day. In winter, on the other hand, the city suffers from the cold, since most places are not equipped with heating systems.

Transport: Lishe International Airport (NGB) lies to the southwest of Ningbo City, 11 kilometers (about 6.8 kilometers) away from the urban area. It was put into use in 1990. Now, the airport has opened up to Hong Kong, Seoul as well as dozens of large and medium cities in China like Shanghai, Beijing, Kunming and Shenzhen.
To get to the airport from the urban area, one could take the shuttle bus.
