Fujian Medical University is a merged university 1969, after merging with Fujian Chinese Traditional Medical College and the medical department of Huaqiao University Fujian Medical University was moved to Quanzhou, Fujian. Then it has moved back to Fuzhou in 1978 again the name of the university changed into its previous name (Fujian Medical College) in 1982 and after that, in 1996 it has changed back its name to Fujian Medical University.
