The precursor of Anhui University, Dongnan Medical College was incepted in Shanghai in 1926 and it was in 1952 the name was changed to Anhui Medical College. The college became a full-fledged university by the order of the National Committee on Education in 1996 under the name Anhui Medical University. Training and Promotion

One of the central aims of AMU and its affiliated hospitals is to cultivate and promote the new generation of scientists on the doctoral and postdoctoral level. Graduates of all medical courses of studies, who have gained the bachelor degree after five years study and the following three years postgraduates program, or those who have finished the seven years study of clinical medicine, can get their master degree from all of the medicine and its relevant disciplines.Candidates or students with MS degree can acquire the Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) after successful examination and participation in the course of doctoral studies.

Climate

Hefei is the capital city of Anhui Province, lying between the Yangtze River and Huaihe River. A subtropical monsoon type with four distinct seasons characterizes its climate. The average annual temperature is about 15.7 C (60.2 F), with a high temperature of 38 C (100 F) in summer and a low temperature of -21 C (69 F) in winter.

Hefei climate in spring (March to April) is quite warm. The average temperature of summer (May toAugust) is about 28 C (82 F). The climate is not very hot compared with other cities in China, but it is also a rainy season.
Compared with the other three seasons, autumn (August to October) may be the best time to have a visit, because the weather is quite favorable with crisp fall days. The winter (November to February) is a little bit cold with an average temperature of -10 C (50 F), so you will have to be prepared with scarf and warm clothing when you go there.

Transportation

Hefei Xinqiao International Airport is about 31.8 km (20 miles) from the city center. It is an important airport, linking this city with many cities home and abroad. Flights to domestic cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and flights to many tourism cities such as Lijiang, Guilin and so on can be found in the airport. Direct international flights to some Asian cities such as Taipei, Singapore, Cheju, Hong Kong, Macau, Seoul, Bangkok and so on are operated from there.
